The first question I have to answer is what I would change about my UC experience, but honestly, there is nothing that comes to mind. Everything that happened this semester led to other experiences and events. However, I do wish I had time to get involved in more experiences. I would have loved to participate in Bearcat Buddies this year, but I didn't feel I had enough time for it. Next year, I will commit to that group so I can help make a difference in the lives of students who need assistance.
There are many experiences I've had that I wouldn't trade for anything here. First of all, the people I have met have exceeded any expectations I had of who I would encounter at college. I love living in Turner and being on the floor that I am because I have become friends with a lot of people in the hall, especially on my floor. They made my transition to college life incredibly easy and that means the world to me. Also, I love the various groups that I became involved in this year. I joined a multicultural organization first semester that later got me involved in a campaign team for a slate in student government. That was... an interesting experience on its own, but I am glad to have participated in an election in that way. In addition, I joined the morale team of the Cincinnati Dance Marathon and we spent months preparing the dance that we would teach the rest of the participants. I grew closer with the people I had already known, and I met more passionate people on that team. Next, I wouldn't trade my experience at LeaderShape for anything. Through that week, I learned so much about myself, my personal values, the visions of myself and others, and what it means to be a leader. Through that experience, I was able to realize my strengths as a leader and what I needed to focus on in the future. Finally, I would not trade my experiences through ROAR for anything. I know I have not been involved in this organization very long, but it already feels like a family. I have already learned a lot about my public speaking abilities (or lack thereof), and I am looking forward to improving myself in that respect.
Since I have only been on six tours and spoken for three of them, I have not been able to gauge a super positive reaction from any personal stories I have told. People seem to appreciate when I talk about the Red and Black Bash out on Sigma Sigma with the foam party and concert, but I haven't shared many personal stories that I can specifically notice a reaction from guests.
