LeaderShape 2015
One of the best experiences of my life took place during January 4-9, 2015. I am not just stating that fact because everyone says it, I honestly mean it. Before attending the LeaderShape Institute, I was a little shaky on my leadership ability. Yes, I had held positions and led groups that accomplished large tasks, but I still felt like I did not entirely know what I was doing. When I went on this week-long retreat, I realized just how much goes into being an efficient leader. Through discussion and hands-on activities, we were able to demonstrate key aspects of the role and really understand the importance of it. The most important idea that I took away from it ( and believe me, there were many) was to "lead with integrity." This means understanding what core values I align closely with, and being able to take action based on those core values. Also on LeaderShape, we learned to have a "healthy disregard for the impossible." Keeping this idea in mind, everyone created a large-scale vision for what they wanted to see changed in the world (you can see my vision and Breakthrough Blueprint in the artifacts tab under "LeaderShape"). On this retreat, we learned one person can enact an incredible amount of change; so why can't that be us? Using these excellent themes of the retreat, I will boldly move forward into the world with the proper skills to be a leader, the confidence to do so effectively, and the imagination to bring my vision to reality.
