Welcome to my Learning Portfolio!
Hi! My name is Jackie Nordmeyer, and I am a fourth year Nursing major. I have fallen in love with caring for critically ill patients when they are most in need of care. I am currently co-oping in the Burns Special Care Unit of University Hospital and loving every minute of it.
I was born and raised in Beavercreek, Ohio, but Cincinnati sucked me in the instant I walked onto campus during my initial tour, and now I am a tour guide to give back to the school that has done so much for me. Last year, I had the honor of serving as the vice president of operations for the ROAR tour guide organization. I am passionate about service, as I have gone to rural Appalachia in eastern Kentucky with WorkFest and I have done two semesters of Bearcat Buddies, tutoring children in the Cincinnati Public School system.
My ultimate goal is to become a nurse practitioner of some sort, but that is still several years away. During my college career, I got involved with a variety of groups to take advantage of what UC and Cincinnati have to offer, including being a PCA at Mercy West Hospital in the rehabilitation department my junior year. Gaining early experience in direct patient care and the nursing world has proven to be incredibly beneficial in my education. I am proud of the University of Cincinnati and sad that my time here is nearing an end. Check out some of the things I have accomplished with UHP on this site!
